Bureau of Land Management awards Helicopter Cargo Net contract to Gladiator, Inc., 6,000 pound capacity nets to be used to fight wildfires

Gladiator, Inc., a producer of military grade personal protective equipment based out of Kenly, NC, received Wednesday a contract from the Bureau of Land Management National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, ID to manufacture 200 cargo nets which will be used to fight ongoing wildfires across the United States.

The 6,000 pound capacity cargo nets are used to contain an external load and suspend it beneath a helicopter to transport material in and around wildland fire scenes, as well as support other natural resource improvement projects.

“We’re honored to receive the contract to make these cargo nets not just because it means keeping manufacturing jobs here in Johnston County, but because it shows the country’s desire to purchase high quality durable American goods to fight these tenacious fires,” said Joseph Tomlinson, the company’s president. “By awarding this contract to Gladiator, Inc., the government agencies acknowledge our desire and capability to provide these types of specialized products as well as our regular line of personal protective products.”
